What is CBD?

There is no doubt CBD is one of the most talked-about products of the last decade.

Every year, more and more people are becoming curious as to what CBD is and what its benefits are, from the elderly man in his 70's who is suffering from arthritis to the young lady in her 20's who is constantly anxious, we all want to know what is the hype surrounding CBD.

So here goes...

CBD (short for cannabidiol), is a naturally occurring compound found in the cannabis flower. Although CBD may be the talk of the town now, it is believed humans have been using cannabis for thousands of years.

In fact, the oldest known written record on cannabis use comes from the Chinese emperor Shen Nung in 2727 BC.

The ancient Greeks and Romans were also familiar with cannabis, while in the middle east, use spread throughout the Islamic empire to North Africa. In 1545 cannabis spread to the western hemisphere and from there it kept spreading and here we are today.

So now the technical part...

When one thinks of cannabis many automatically associate it with "getting high" or "getting stoned" but it is important to understand that the cannabis plant is made up of two main players, CBD and THC.
It is the THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) compound that causes the psychoactive high that cannabis is famous for, not the CBD.
Furthermore, the THC differs in both the hemp plant and the marijuana plant ( these are the two distinctive varieties of cannabis ).

Both these plants contain CBD, however, the marijuana plant contains very high levels of THC, whereas the hemp plant only contains trace amounts of it. Hence, why people who want to get "high" or want to feel the effects of THC smoke marijuana.

CBD oil on the other hand is derived directly from hemp plants and not marijuana.

Is this all making sense now? We hope so! But we haven't finished explaining just yet.

When CBD is extracted from the hemp plants, it is extracted from the leaves, flowers, and stalk of the plant using solvent or heat extraction methods and diluting it with a carrier oil. Furthermore, you can also get CBD oil in a full spectrum or broad-spectrum version. If a CBD oil is labelled "full-spectrum" it should contain quantities of the hundreds of cannabinoids and terpenes found in the plant it was extracted from, including traces of THC. The broad-spectrum is essentially the above but without the THC.

Now, this is the part we talk specifically about ourselves. At Elite, our CBD oil is diluted with MCT oil to allow for a rapid release. As MCT oil extracted from coconut oil ( medium-chain triglycerides) are easily absorbed by the body, this will mean a higher percentage of the CBD will be absorbed straight into your bloodstream resulting in you seeing stronger and faster effects. Also, our CBD is isolate and completely THC free, thus making it very popular with athletes and those who are drug tested.

We all know by now that cannabis-derived products are gaining increased recognition for their medical usages and here at Elite having worked in an industry for the last 12 years where CBD is our main suggestion for so many ailments, we also know legally we cannot make any claim on here. However, from all of our clients we have recommended CBD too, and from what extensive studies and research have shown us, is that CBD can help to relieve chronic pain, insomnia, lower blood pressure, can be used as an anti-oxidant to prevent free radicals that cause cancer, anxiety, inflammation associated with arthritis and sports injuries, overall health, and the list goes on!

If you have not tried our CBD oils already then what's stopping you.
It could be the best choice you make!
